Following up, I had to send the 45.5 back as they’re still considerably tighter than the 45 in the road version. I tried them on side by side, and the shape is quite a bit different, with much more toe spring in the road shoe. Hoping that a 46 will be a better fit. I read that there are about 3 Euro sizes per American size.
Lining my 45 VR90’s up against the 45.5 didn’t show much of a visible difference and they felt similar, due to stretching in my current pair of 45’s.
