Who's coming to the Arkansas Graveler?

Day 3 is 66mi with 7267' of climb? My knees would explode. They think 60' of climb per mile is a hilly challenge.

Looks like a pretty unique experience though.




I just drove home from Fayetteville today- we did a tour of the university. Really neat area. I would need to add a few cogs to my gravel bike to ride some of that area. Good lord!

The climbs on some of those roads are brutal I'm told. They better hope for dry weather, whenever someone tries those roads in rainy weather they talk about walking. A lot.

I've ridden some of those roads and they are great. Rain is never good though.

I grew up in Arkansas, graduated from U of Arkansas in Fayetteville. I guess I could say my cycling adventures began there, first with the cheap bikes we rode as kids, then the 10 speed bike my brother's roommate put me on after giving me a 1/2 pint of vodka in kool-aid when I was 16, visiting him in Fayetteville. But, that's another story. I went back about 15 years ago to ride some of the roads, not gravel. We did three big climbs, Petit Jean Mountain, Mount Nebo and Mount Magazine. Nebo was the only one that I would call a stump puller. The others were just good climbs. There are some brutally steep fire roads in the Ouachita and Ozark hills, for MTB riding. Great state to ride bikes in my opinion. I won't be doing the Graveler though.
